The Bvumba Mountains
The Bvumba Mountains are in a beautiful region of Zimbabwe, filled with green forests, rolling hills and occasional rugged mountain peaks. The Bvumba is a small part of a long chain of mountains that defines the eastern border of Zimbabwe. The Bvumba Mountains (or Vumba Mountains) lie on the Zimbabwe-Mozambique border, approximately 25 km south east of Mutare. This area of Zimbabwe combines beautiful scenery, with casino hotels, golf courses, and a smattering of quaint country lodges and hotels with a distinctly non-African flavour in the heart of Africa.... Chinhoyi Caves geographically lies at Latitude 17°20° S and Longitude 30° East. These famous Caves are situated approximately 115 km from Harare to Chinhoyi with a further 6km to the Chinhoyi Caves. Approximately one and a half hour drive from Harare. These caves are the most extensive cave system in Zimbabwe that the public can access. The caves were designated a National Park in 1955 and as such are managed by the Department of National Parks. There is a campsite run by the National Parks and a quiet hotel located there. Gonarezhou National Park is situated in the south eastern lowveld of Zimbabwe and covers an area in excess of 5 000 square kilometres. "Gonarezhou" meaning "Place of many Elephants" is an extremely scenic Park full of rugged and beautiful landscapes. Alternative folklore suggests that the park was named for the herbalists who would stock their medicines in tusks (known as gona in the Shona language). Three major rivers – The Save, Runde and Mwenezi – cut their courses through the Park, forming pools and natural oases from which hundreds of species of birds, wildlife and fish gather to feed and drink.
